Martin Kafes33 Hirth (*1981) is a Czech visual artist whose style draws inspiration from the free creative environment of the graffiti scene. Martin's entire work is permeated by a fascination with line. On an abstract level, he is working the line up into an infinite variety of shapes. At the beginning of each of his paintings, there is a seemingly random spot, although there is no room for any randomness on the canvas and everything has its own fixed order. Behind every line, curve or bend, behind every shape, there is a carefully though-out concept. The layering of variant lines on an unbounded coloured area can be reconstructed retrospectively, as each of the layers is acknowledged, and we, as archaeologists, can uncover their relics. The overall harmony of organic structures gives a unique, almost meditative feel to the viewer standing in front of Martin's canvases. At the same time, it stimulates viewer’s imagination and triggers chains of associations.
